Weight Loss Motivation - The Key to Your Success!


Motivation is everything.  We’ve all heard it before, and I’m sure that some of you have even laughed at it before.  But have you ever really sat down and thought about why motivation is so important?  It doesn’t matter if you’re trying to lose weight, win a medal, or do anything else in life.  If you don’t have the motivation you won’t succeed!

What is Your Motivation?

This is a question that we all need to ask ourselves from time to time.  Do you know what your motivation is?  Sure you want to lose weight, but why?  Why do you want to slim down?

No one can answer this question for you - you have to answer it for yourself.  But what if you have a hard time finding your weight loss motivation?  Here are some tips you can use to come up with your motivation:

  • Make a list of how your life would be different if you were more healthy.
  • Find examples of the goal you would like to achieve.  Think about how you’ll feel once you reach that goal.
  • Is your current weight or health keeping you from doing things you enjoy?  Make a list of those things.

You see, everyone’s motivation is different.  For some it’s because they want to play sports again.  For others it’s because they want to feel better about their image.  There is no such thing as a wrong reason or a bad reason as long as it really motivates you and it’s something that you’re doing for you!

Positive and Negative Motivation

Try to stick with positive motivations rather than negative motivations.  Positive motivation is all about trying to do something for you.  It’s a motivation that comes from inside of you, not because of any external reason.

Negative motivations are the opposite: you want to change because of an external reason.  Maybe people look at you weird, or you want to look good so that some guy or girl will go out with you.  Some people find this to be a great reason and it works for them, but there are so many other factors here besides just your weight.

We recommend you always stick with positive motivations.  Find a reason that you want to change just for you, not just for someone else.  You’ll find yourself more successful and motivated by this type of weight loss motivation.

No matter what your motivation is, make it yours.  If you can keep yourself motivated and keep your eye on the goal no matter what else happens, you’ll be amazed with what you can accomplish!
